University of Canterbury ‘Notable Alumni’

In April 2021 I was made a ‘Notable Alumni’ of the University of Canterbury.

Described in the citation as ‘activist, academic and performing artist’, I was awarded this honour by Vice Chancellor Professor Cheryl de la Rey in April 2021. I am one of only forty-five ‘Notable Alumni’, a list that includes community activist Dame Aroha Reriti-Crofts, artist Dick Frizzell MNZM, jurist Justice Vui Clarence Nelson, journalist and author Miriama Kamo, past New Zealand Prime Minister Sir John Key, recent All Black captain Kieran Read ONZM, business leader Rob Fyfe CNZM, lawyer and sports administrator Raewyn Lovett ONZM, barrister and indigenous rights activist Maui Solomon, and lawyer and Mayor of Christchurch Lianne Dalziel.
